Simplified Flexible Payments

Member demographics are changing. The members who are most engaged today are younger.  Millennials in the workforce represent the largest segment of today’s working population. And most members join associations as a student, recent grad or within the first 5 years of employment meaning these tech savvy members are the majority of your newest members.

Younger members’ technology expectations are shaped by their consumer experiences. Millennial and Gen Z —who connected with mobile devices at an early age and used online tools to work and collaborate in school—now expect similar types of interaction with technology throughout the rest of their life/work experiences.

Associations need to ensure their e-commerce experiences mirror consumer experiences and that is why we made a number of exciting enhancements to Flexible Payments to meet member’s expectations. Check out the documentation for Flexible Payments.

What's New

Save Payment at Checkout now combined with Stored Payment Methods

The Save Payment at Checkout functionality is now automatically enabled when Stored Payment Methods is enabled.  Staff no longer need to enable Save Payment at Checkout in order for users to have the ability to create a stored payment method during checkout.  This change was made to simplify the member experience and encourage them to save payment methods. This change also simplifies the setup for admins, and is inline with online shopping best practices. (AMS-12018, NC-6049)

Clear and concise instructions when creating Installment Payments

We've improved the messaging that is displayed to users on the My Schedule Payments page after placing an order using Installment Payments or one-time Scheduled Payments, that will be processed in the future, and Convert Cart to Order When Scheduled is disabled.  The change, which includes better use of background color an iconography, has been made to make it clearer to members that they successfully created a payment schedule and no other actions are needed. (NC-6032)

Convert cart to order when scheduling payment

We now provide an additional configuration option that allows carts to be immediately converted to orders when using one-time schedule payments or installment payments.  The Convert Cart to Order When Scheduled configuration is an org-wide setting and will be applicable to all products purchased using scheduled and installment payments.  This functionality is disabled by default and staff admins can simply enable Convert Cart to Order When Scheduled on the Nimble AMS Config page, which will allow orders to be processed immediately, even if payment is scheduled for the future.  This option of converting scheduled payments to orders instantly, will be especially beneficial to users who purchase membership products, as they can enjoy the benefits of membership immediately, as opposed to waiting until the order is processed at the future scheduled payment date.  When enabled, this optional configuration increases the likelihood of creating orders with open AR.  See Convert Cart to Order When Scheduled for further details. (AMS-12022)

Improved contextual messaging when setting up scheduled payments

When users select a date while scheduling a payment during checkout, the message now more precisely indicates when the order or payment will be processed, based on configuration.  Figure 1 message is displayed when the Convert Cart To Order When Scheduled is disabled and Figure 2 message is shown when Convert Cart To Order When Scheduled is enabled. (AMS-12084, NC-6041)

Refined Auto-Renew messaging

We have improved the messaging displayed for Auto-Renew enabled memberships during the Join/Renew process.  The messaging now alleviates confusion by more clearly indicating the auto-renew status of the user's selected membership. (NC-6029)

Real-time membership status messaging

When users purchased a membership using one-time scheduled payments or installment payments with start date in the future and Convert Cart to Order When Scheduled is disabled, there was no indication on the Personal Snapshot page that there is an existing membership scheduled, which caused confusion for users.  A clear and concise message is now displayed on Personal Snapshot page indicating that an existing membership is scheduled, so that users are informed before attempting to create a duplicate membership order.   If the user pays off the first installment, the message is updated accordingly. (NC-6033)

Order Summary page includes installment details

Additional details are now included on the Order Summary page when a user places an order using Installment Payments and the first payment is processed at the time of purchase.  If Convert Cart to Order When Scheduled is enabled and the user places an order using Scheduled Payments or Installment Payments with a future date, the detailed message is also displayed.  The message indicates that the remainder of the payments have been scheduled and provides a link to the schedule.  (NC-6031)

Auto Renew choice correctly retained through checkout

In the past when a user selected to auto-renew membership on the join/renew page, but did not have a saved payment method, the system forcefully disabled the auto-renew selection on the checkout page. This required the user to enable the auto-renew again, after saving a payment method. The user experience has been improved, by saving the user's auto-renew preference throughout the process, irrespective of whether they have a saved payment method or not (Figure 1).  This improvement helps to increase adoption of recurring memberships.  If a membership type is set to Auto-Renewal Required, the Auto-Renew Membership toggle is set to Active and cannot be toggled off by users (Figure 2).  (NC-6044)

Easier, more intuitive process for saving payment during purchase of recurring products

When a user is purchasing a Recurring Eligible product, and does not yet have any stored payment methods, Community Hub will now automatically save the payment method entered during checkout for future use. (Figure 1)

Prior to this change, users were required to navigate away from checkout to the Stored Payment area in Personal Snapshot, then navigate back to checkout in order to complete their transaction.  If the user has an existing stored payment method, Save for Future Use is checked but can be deselected (Figure 2).  (NC-6047)
