Membership Reinstatement in Nimble
What is Reinstatement?
Reinstatement allows past members to renew their membership even after their prior membership has expired and the grace period has ended, without needing to rejoin. This ensures continuity of membership history and eligibility for benefits like renewal discounts, while enforcing the appropriate inactive period without benefits.
Why Use Reinstatement?
Prevents unnecessary Rejoin processes.
Retains historical continuity for members.
Allows associations to set flexible renewal windows post-lapse.
How Reinstatement Works
Configured on the Membership Type using:
Reinstate Period: Numeric value (e.g., 60)
Reinstate Unit: Days or Months
If a user tries to renew within this defined window after their membership has lapsed (including after the grace period), they will see a "Renew" button instead of "Join" in the Community Hub.
Key Behavior
No proration logic is applied during Reinstatement.
The new term follows standard term logic for Annual or Anniversary types but always begins with the Current Full Term.
Member benefits are not active during the lapsed or reinstatement window.

Final Notes
Once the Reinstate Period passes, the Renew option is no longer available.
At that point, the member must use Join and may not receive renewal-linked benefits.
Reinstatement is not supported on the staff-facing Order Processor. However, association staff can manually adjust membership dates and pricing as needed when processing orders via the Order Processor.
